ST. LOUIS — Cyrus Dashtaki, of Dashtaki Law Firm, LLC, along with co-counsel Daniel T. Ryan and John Steward, obtained a $2.5 million jury verdict against the Board of Police Commissioners in the City of St. Louis on Friday, December 16, 2016.
The case stemmed from an incident that occurred on September 25, 2011. The client was a pedestrian and lost her leg as a result of a high-speed police pursuit by a St. Louis police officer. This is one of the first cases of its kind to reach a jury verdict as many of these cases have been dismissed before ever getting to trial due to complexities in establishing proximate cause. Our legal team, however, was able to successfully argue that this case was proper for a trial by jury.
After a week long trial, the jury returned a verdict for the Plaintiff and found that the Board of Police Commissioners of the City of St. Louis was liable due to the police officer’s negligent conduct. This victory signifies our legal team’s innovative legal strategies and hard work used in developing the case to obtain such a large verdict.
